In one month I've seen many of the newspapers, and magazines I've worked with disappear, layoff employees, or go to four time a year editions instead of monthly.
Ad revenues which once fueled this great industry have decreased, been side tracked to the internet or just plain disappeared due to the economy.
The near future doesn't seem to bode too well to an already hit industry of commissioned art, yet relentlessly i continue to pursue my passion. I'm optimistic, perhaps foolishly so, that the world will still need to laugh, to still see cartoons, and will always need to utilize this humor with advertising campaigns, in print, online or on screen.
Im toeing the line. Sink or swim, I'm renewing my own effort to jump through this hoop of fire and continue to bring humor and unique perspectives on paper, online and in animation.
Look for the new animation clips soon, for it's my next challenge to take my look into the realm of movement. I've done traditionally hand drawn animation, with the help of many great artists and producers before, but now, the animation will be done by me, with my direction, my production.
In other news, I'm expecting.
Not really. Just need to illicite some humor on such a dour subject.
